Itinerary: Northern Pantanal Tour – 06 Days / 05 Nights
Departure from Cuiabá: 08:00 AM
Day 1: Pousada Piuval (1st Night)
Distance: Cuiabá → Pousada Piuval: 107 km
• Arrival: Check-in at the lodge, followed by a guided walk to introduce the logistics and local environment.
• Lunch: 11:30 – Traditional Pantanal dishes.
• Afternoon Activity:
• Photo Safari: Departure at 15:30 in the lodge’s safari vehicle, returning at sunset.
• Possible Sightings: Ocelots, monkeys, tortoises, deer, tapirs, agoutis, and a variety of birds and other wildlife.
Day 2: Pousada Piuval → Pousada Porto Jofre (2nd Night)
Activities at Pousada Piuval:
• Morning:
• Sunrise safari in search of giant anteaters and lesser anteaters.
• After breakfast: Horseback ride (duration: 1 hour).
• Departure: 13:00 towards Pousada Porto Jofre (138 km via the Transpantaneira Road).
• Photo Safari along the route: Possible sightings include tapirs, deer, coatis, monkeys, caimans, capybaras, birds, and other animals.
• Arrival: Check-in, accommodations, and dinner at the lodge.
Day 3: Pousada Porto Jofre (Boat Activities)
• Morning and Afternoon: Motorboat tour with sun protection and a radio transmitter.
• Objective: Spot jaguars, giant otters, birds, and other wildlife.
• Departure Time: 07:00 after breakfast.
• Duration: Full-day excursion, returning at sunset.
Day 4: Pousada Porto Jofre → Pousada Pouso Alegre (4th Night)
Distance: Porto Jofre → Pousada Pouso Alegre: 118.6 km
• Departure: 07:00 – Photo safari along the Transpantaneira during the journey.
• Possible Sightings: Tapirs, coatis, monkeys, deer, anacondas, lizards, and various birds.
• Arrival: Check-in and lunch at 12:30.
• Afternoon and Evening Activities:
• Daytime Safari: Returning at dusk.
• Night Safari: Possible sightings of jaguars, ocelots, pumas, maned wolves, owls, and other nocturnal animals.
Day 5: Pousada Pouso Alegre → Return to Cuiabá
• Morning:
• Sunrise Safari: Departure at 05:00. Return to the lodge with birdwatching along the way.
• Light walk to the observation tower (26m high) for a panoramic view of the region.
• Return Journey:
• Lunch at the lodge or Churrascaria Pantaneira in Poconé.
• Drive back to Cuiabá, with arrival expected late in the afternoon.
